Not too many people were ordering boards from “Mayhem” yet, so to make money he continued to sand surfboards and began to paint designs on them along with a handwritten LOST wherever he could. Matt 'Mayhem' Biolos shaped 20 boards his first year. Adopting the name "Mayhem" (an ode to the second model he shaped). In 1987 Lost Head Shaper Matt Biolos began sanding surfboards fresh out of high school. Team Lost scribbled their name on books, shirts, tables and eventually, a clothing brand was born. Baldy, skateboarding in Upland at the Pipeline and surfing Dana Point. The Lost Surfboard brand began in 1985 with now legendary shaper Matt Biolos and a bunch of school friends started up 'team lost' that would spend their time between snowboarding at Mt. The Quiver Killer… a shot straight through the heart. Staying with the ammo theme, we swapped the stubby little speeding bullet for the new logo, an elongated, Spitzer influenced munition.

Free and easy in small-ish surf while still precise and forgiving in solid surf. The rounded tail, reduced nose area, and the added rocker, prevents too much rail being wetted at once in small surf, and allows control and ease of pocket and power surfing in proper waves. The surface area and volume are still generous enough to create speed and feel lively in anything but the smallest, or true "grovel" surf. The overall outline and rocker lines are a minimalistic and simplistic continuous curve. We then changed the tail to a forgiving, rounded "thumb" tail without narrowing it too much where the front fins are. Beginning with the ShortRound, we added a couple inches of length, moderately added to the overall rocker, and pulled the nose outline in a bit. At this the point, it would be unfair to continue calling it by the same name. While spending time in Bali this summer I began doing some tweaking to the design. With myself and so many people enjoying the ShortRound, it quickly became clear that the short, relatively flat, and stubby board was an easy answer for fast fun in smaller surf, but with some limitations. These fantastic surfboards are pushing EPS / Epoxy construction to new limits.The Quiver Killer is an extension of the Short Round model. Exciting cutting edge ever evolving technology has disrupted the surf industry resulting in boards that are more environmentally sustainable, durable and performance orientated than ever before. The advanced end of the spectrum is represented by Firewire surfboards. Whilst on the other hand these advances in construction have made surfing affordable for more and more people. At one end of the spectrum this has enabled the manufacturer of perfectly shaped almost indestructible, featherweight, high performance boards.
